About CuZn’s WH-200B Municipal System:
The WH-200B Municipal Model utilizes KDF-55 Filtration Media. Out of the two formulations of KDF Media (KDF-55 & KDF-85), KDF-55 offers the most robust dechlorination capacity and better suited to Municipal Water Supplies for just that reason. In addition to eliminating chlorine, the KDF-55 Filtration Media will target inorganic contaminants including the soluble cation heavy metals.
KDF-55 Filtration Media is a remarkable REDOX media (oxidation/reduction), representing a new and unique natural process of electrochemical oxidation/reduction and adsorption action. KDF-55 targets the dissolved inorganic contaminants (up to 98% of soluble cation heavy metals including mercury, lead, chromium, cadmium, etc.).
Powerful KDF-55 redox media produces an ORP Shift of -300mV or more, creating bacteriostatic environment that prevents the growth of bacteria, mold & other microbial contaminants. Unlike carbon based water filters that require frequent replacements due to being susceptible to microbial growth, WH-200B can last up to a decade before it should be replaced.
KDF-55 also prevents corrosion and eliminates scale by transforming hardness minerals into crystalline structures that do not adhere to plumbing & appliances (learn more in the What is Salt Free Softening? section below).

About CuZn’s WH-200B Well System:
KDF-85 Filtration Media offers a similar REDOX media (oxidation/reduction), representing a new and unique natural process of electrochemical oxidation/reduction and adsorption action.
What makes KDF-85 ideal for Well Water is that it offers much more robust capacity for issues that are more common to private well water than KDF-55. It is an ideal treatment method for Sulfur, Iron, Hydrogen Sulfide and will also eliminate Iron Bacteria growth in the hot water line.
KDF-85 also offer the following benefits that KDF-55 Filtration Media offers; targets the dissolved inorganic contaminants (up to 98% of soluble cation heavy metals including mercury, lead, chromium, cadmium, etc.), KDF-85 redox media produces an ORP Shift of -300mV or more, creating bacteriostatic environment that prevents the growth of bacteria, mold & other microbial contaminants.

GPM: Gallons Per Minute
Standard Output: VIQUA’s standard output UV lamp. They generate less heat, but require longer system lengths and exposure time to equal the dose delivered by other lamp types. Ideal for low flow applications. Minimal maintenance costs and heat radiation; full microbiological protection.
High Output: Higher UV power output; ideal for medium to high flow applications.
Amalgam Lamp Technology: For ultimate UV output; typically needed in high flow applications or NSF Class A installations. Due to higher power requirements, it is the preferred lamp technology for light commercial applications or public facilities.
2X Lamp Life: Long life - 2X greater lamp life vs. standard and high output lamps.
2X Output: 2X greater UV-C output vs. standard low pressure lamp technology.
4X Output: 4X greater UV-C output vs. standard low pressure lamp technology.
Constant Current: Ensures stable UV lamp current regardless of power fluctuations.
Safety-Loc: A UV connector design that meets UL979 safety requirements. VIQUA connectors have a built in mechanism that breaks power to the UV lamp and prevents accidental exposure to UV light outside of the chamber.
UV Lamp: The part of the UV system that emits the 254nm germicidal wavelength of UV light. In VIQUA systems, there are 3 types of lamps: Standard Output, High Output and Amalgam.
VIQUA Standard Dose (30mJ/cm2): VIQUA’s uncompromising dose value used to compare all VIQUA systems that do not require NSF Standard 55 Class A certification. Typically used for residential systems. This has been established as an industry standard in the UV water treatment industry.
Connector: The molded connector that the UV lamp plugs into.
Controller: The electronic module that supplies power to the lamp as well as feedback information of the status of the UV system (syn. ballast, power supply)
